This is a story about two men in a great nation called Naija. Both of them are persons with reputable characters but living on opposite parts of their world and their differences spans through time, culture, education, age and even religion.

Joe is a christian from the southern minority, well read,he has a little weight on and in his sixties but Buh is more like the opposite in the sense that he is a muslim from a northern majority,not so well read, went through the millitary ranks,and is in his seventies.

You could imagine if there would be any similiarities between these two men. Well there is one I know so well and so much that I foresee that it could be the only reason that may separate them if there was ever any need for such.

What they had in common was the love they shared for a beautiful,well endowed and glamorous princess that was called Naira. Even the sound of her name close to any of these men created a spark in their that makes them restless to the point of desperation where they could do anything and I mean anything just to be with her. But that was not the main reason behind their chase after her. Then what is it then that spurs so much rage in them to the point of desperation? I will tell you.

It is the innermost desire of both of them to ascend the throne of the girls father, after him since she was the only surviving child of the King.

Naira didn’t know what to do because she suddenly became confused on who to choose as her man, this is due to the fact that they both love her in their own special ways never minding what may result. For this very reason she went and sought for advice on what to do from an old wise man in the town. Though this was meant to be a little secret.

The wise ma told her to tell each of them separately that it not in her power to decide but her relatives. This would sound harsh but it was a little test to know who the right person was to emerge. This idea was cool to Naira and so she did what she was told and the contest began.

The contest had not taken long before she started hearing all sorts of name calling from different quarters.Hmmmm!! she would say but in her local palance she would just say “na wa o”,”na which kain wahala be this self”.

Joe will say that Buh is an illetrate and Buh will reply by saying that he is more matured as compared to Joe to be able to take good care of Naira.That wasn’t enough, they also went about giving gifts to some relatives they have been able to buy over to themselves.

This act alone made Nairas relatives turn against themselves, resulting in fighting and all sorts of vices all because they have sold their rights for their selfish interest all to the detriment of Naira. Why? This is so because their hands have been soiled and so they have become bias and not able to voice out what the truth ought really to be like.

l love this story because of one reason, it did not with the writer nor the author but instead it was concluded by the reader. Now, tell me what is the solution to this problem and do you think the wise man gave Naira a good counsel? Who do you think will win this contest between Joe and Buh?
